It is regrettable to read the statements, reported today in a national newspaper, by the president of the National Observatory on Sporting Events, according to which some football clubs, in a “disturbing” manner, are filing appeals to support troublemaking and violent ultras. Cagliari Calcio recently filed an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) to protect the rights of over one and a half million citizens residing in Sardinia, unjustly deprived of the right to follow their favorite team in Empoli without justification: unless one wants to argue that all Sardinians are troublemaking and violent. <\/p>\n\n
On the other hand, the court’s acceptance of the appeal and the lack of any disturbance to public order during and after the Empoli-Cagliari match demonstrate that the predictions of disorder were unfounded.<\/p>\n\n
Cagliari Calcio believes in the purest principles of sport and condemns all forms of violence. It has always supported the institutions and will continue to do so. However, the time has come to rethink a system that sometimes, unnecessarily, adopts widespread restrictions that penalize millions of citizens.
