Cagliari were defeated<\/a> in the second match of Group J of the preliminary round of TST 2026, a seven-a-side soccer tournament currently underway in Cary, North Carolina (USA). After winning their opening match against Villarreal thanks to a brace from Radja Nainggolan<\/a>, the Rossoblu lost to the Mexicans. Today (11:00 PM in Italy, 5:00 PM in Cary) they face the Fort Lauderdale Strickers to play for a spot in the knockout stage. The Americans lead the standings with two wins (4-0 against Club Am\u00e9rica and 2-1 against Villarreal) ahead of Cagliari and Club Am\u00e9rica (1-1), while the Spanish side are last (0-2). The top two in each group plus the eight best third-placed teams advance to the next stage. <\/p>\n\n

CAGLIARI-CLUB AM\u00c9RICA 1-3 | THE REPORT<\/strong>In the Mexicans, among others, also Miguel Lay\u00fan, with a past at Villareal, Porto, Watford, Club Am\u00e9rica, Sevilla, Monterrey and also a brief experience at Atalanta. In the 14th minute Cagliari took the lead with Alessandro Vinciguerra, who received the initial support from Raterink and put a great goal into the corner with his right foot. At 17′ Ceppitelli from outside, another good save from the goalkeeper. In the second half, in the 22nd minute, Matteo Mancosu was very close to scoring, stopped on his way out. At 23′ the equalizer with Garcia who from long range finds a great right-footed shot into the top corner, an unstoppable post-goal. In the 27th minute Buono saves Martinez’s close shot, in the 31st minute he defuses Ortega, immediately after Nainggolan with a flying right foot after an excellent combination with Sau, but Perera saves like a champion. In the 37th minute Fuentes headed from a corner to make it 2-1 at the end of regulation time. In the “Target Score Time” chance for Nainggolan to close for the draw with the teams 7 vs 7, then with the teams 6 vs 6 Setti hits the post from outside. Good is miraculous during the 5 vs 5, Cavuoti very close to scoring (shot saved) 4 vs 4. It gets to 3 vs 3 and Nainggolan is defused by Perera, Club Am\u00e9rica’s winning goal arrives on the turnaround. <\/p>\n\n

THE CAGLIARI ROSE AT TST 2026<\/strong>Led by captain Andrea Cossu, the team can count on the experience and charisma of Radja Nainggolan, Marco Sau, Luca Ceppitelli and Matteo Mancosu, protagonists of a long history with the Club and in professional football. Also in the squad are Cagliari’s young players Vincenzo Sarno (goalkeeper), Nicol\u00f2 Cavuoti, Nicola Grandu, Otheniel Raterink, M\u00e1rton Prettenhoffer and Alessandro Vinciguerra. The team is completed by the additions of TST Alessio Buono (goalkeeper from Zeta Como of the Kings League), the Argentine Facundo Setti (futsal specialist), the Canadian Lucas Shaw, already present in 2025, and the American Ashraf Tendo Bedard-Khalid. The team’s coach will be Gian Marco Serra: a Sardinian 5-a-side football coach with long experience in regional futsal, he has played with Mediterranea Cagliari, Monastir and Serramanna, as well as having led the Sardinian Under 19 Representative Team. Athletic training is handled by Francesco Fois, already part of the medical staff of the Rossobl\u00f9 First Team with a focus on recovery from injuries. <\/p>\n\n
