Cagliari Calcio is stepping onto the field once again, renewing its commitment, carried forward throughout the seasons, to supporting blood donation. The Club is joining the appeals of the Sassari University Hospital (AOU Sassari) and the Brotzu National and Highly Specialized Hospital (ARNAS Brotzu) in Cagliari. The invitation to fans, sports enthusiasts and citizens is to make a simple yet essential gesture to help ensure the availability of care for those who need it. <\/p>\n\n
The appeal takes on particular importance during the summer, when blood donations tend to decrease while the need for blood and blood components remains constant. This is an issue affecting the whole of Sardinia: every year, around 107,000 units of blood are needed on the island, compared with approximately 75,000 collected, leaving a shortfall of more than 32,000 units that makes it necessary to rely on supplies from other regions. <\/p>\n\n
Blood is indispensable for surgical procedures, emergencies and trauma care, as well as to ensure the continuity of treatment for oncology patients, people with thalassemia and those affected by blood disorders. It cannot be artificially produced, and its availability depends entirely on donations. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cCagliari Calcio invites its fans and everyone who is able to do so to donate blood. Solidarity is a value that belongs to sport and to our community. With a simple gesture, each of us can provide concrete help to someone facing an illness, surgery or an emergency. The management of both hospitals thanks Cagliari Calcio for choosing to support and amplify a message of major social importance, helping to raise awareness throughout the regional community.<\/p>\n\n
