You have to look forward with confidence, poise, and full awareness of the situation we’re in. The lads left everything on the pitch, and I rediscovered the spirit I’d seen before Monza. They never let up mentally, and I’m happy, though I would have been even more so if we’d managed to bring home at least a point. This team has everything it takes to get back to picking up points, and they will. Today we saw the right attitude, the one that was lacking at Monza and in some other situations, and we must never lose that. I have no fault with the lads: they did what they had to, both in the first and second half. We were a steamroller against them, and we deserve a lot of credit for the fact that Lazio had little or no shots in the first half. At the Olimpico, against an opponent like that, we couldn’t have approached the game any differently».

CAGLIARI’S MOMENT AND JOURNEY
«I’ve rediscovered the Cagliari I know, the one that had maintained this spirit until the match against Juventus and then lost it in Monza. Against Bologna it was a peculiar match, conditioned by many small things. We played well in Rome, but without the energy I saw today. With this attitude and this mentality, we can achieve our goal. We certainly must remain calm and clear-headed. We knew moments like this could happen: we’re working to minimize them as much as possible and to push them forward as much as possible. We can’t give in to frustration and discouragement, neither I nor my staff. This team has a clear identity, and we must continue working towards it.».

YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR CHOICES
«Today we didn’t want to risk Winks, who is a key player for us. I feel sorry for Fadera, because he would have allowed us to further extend our lead over Lazio, and his absence weighed heavily. However, everyone who took the field made their mark. We’re a very young team and it can happen that we drop a few points along the way, but we know what we want to do and where we want to go. Finishing the match with so many young players on the pitch is a further sign that we’re heading in the right direction. Of course, we need to get points, but I’m calm because I see a vibrant team, something that hasn’t happened under other circumstances. We finished today with so many young players on the pitch: it’s not an excuse, but part of our technical journey. When you win, you’re good at letting them play; when you lose, you get criticized. We need to have a balanced evaluation.».

THE REFEREEING EPISODES
«The referee is like a player, and I don’t like to focus on incidents, even when they seem to speak volumes. I prefer to focus on the progress of the match and leave the referees alone. I’ve always done this because I’m convinced of their good faith. Even with regard to what happened today, I don’t want to get into the merits: they will know what method was appropriate at that moment. For me, that’s closed.».

MINA AND KOFLER
«It’s not just Mina, we have many players available and those who came in did well. Kofler, for example, had a great match. I find the question about Mina provocative.».

OFFENSIVE SOLUTIONS
«Maldini can play all the attacking positions. I have several forwards to use, and today it would have been disrespectful to field him as a center forward, in a role different from the one he’s played so far.».

THE CALENDAR
«If we look at Cagliari’s fixture list at the start of the season, probably no one would have predicted 13 points after six matchdays. But teams can’t be erased from the fixture list: if we have to face them, the others must too. We’re taking it one game at a time, with the same passion and competitive spirit. We always take the field to give our all, and we must continue to follow the path we’ve taken, maintaining a linear path.».

LAZIO AND THE RACE PLAN
«Gattuso and Lazio are doing very well. I wish Gennaro all the best, because he’s a genuine person, and there aren’t many like him in this world. Naturally, I was hoping he’d leave me with some points today. Lazio has a clear and precise identity, with very strong flanks. We wanted to fill the half-space and limit one-on-one situations. With the two full-backs, we knew we were taking some risks, keeping them a little wider initially and then having them close down on the opposite ball. We tried to reduce the time and space between our full-back and the opposing attacker, preventing Tavares from occupying certain areas and trying to isolate Zaccagni. We gained some advantages, creating density in midfield and leaving possession to the two central defenders. All of this, however, had to be accompanied by intensity and the ability to keep the team together. We had little time to prepare for the match, even though I’ve been following Lazio for a while: I watch a lot of matches, and the team is certainly interesting.».

[1492
278,276,274
post-28378","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-lazio-cagliari","news_cat-new-in","news_cat-latest-news","news_cat-first-team

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.7 -
