Grassroots Activities: The 2024/2025 Season Presented

Youth Sector - 22/10/2024

In front of over 150 directors, staff members, athletes, and their respective families, the presentation of the 2024/2025 season of the men’s and women’s Grassroots Activities of Cagliari Calcio was held at the Unipol Domus.

The Head of the Academy, Mattia Belfiori, led the proceedings by presenting the staff and teams in detail, with introductions from General Manager Stefano Melis and Marketing Manager Corrado Pusceddu, as well as a speech from the women’s sector representative Anna Piras.
Representing Banco di Sardegna – the new jersey sponsor of the Youth Sector and Grassroots Activities – were Giannina Balia (Head of the Southern Sardinia Regional Office), Emanuela Cambuli (Head of Communications), and Antonello Maxia (Territorial Corporate Manager for Southern Sardinia). Cambuli expressed how it was “a source of pride to support Cagliari Calcio in this journey, and at the same time, a great responsibility to represent an entire island and its people. As always, we will provide support to the young athletes and their families within this valuable partnership initiated with the Club. We wish everyone the best of luck for the season ahead.”

“Seeing the enthusiasm of the children and their parents, here in our home, is something truly wonderful that brings excitement and energizes us to work together, each in our area of expertise, to grow with these colors on our backs,” said Stefano Melis. “We are happy to gather, as we do every year, to start the season, even though in reality we have been working on the field for several weeks thanks to the commendable work of the coaches in carrying forward both the sports and social projects. In the Grassroots Activities, we work to build the footballers of tomorrow, but first and foremost, we focus on developing individuals within the community, the citizens. Let’s move forward like this, with a smile and the pride of representing Cagliari.”

“We must never forget the sacrifices made by families to allow boys and girls to play sports, in this case, football, and specifically to wear the Cagliari shirt,” began Anna Piras. “Our thanks go to them; every day, we strive to build something positive, beyond the mere results on the field. It’s a pleasure to see the athletes’ desire to always push a little further. The women’s team has grown significantly over the years, and we are writing important chapters. Many of these stories we’ve shared through various content on our official channels. In short, we want to continue like this and, if possible, do even better.”

The final word, before the celebration in the Unipol Domus hospitality area with the surprise arrival of Gianluca Lapadula and Fabio Pisacane for selfies, photos, and autographs, was given to Mattia Belfiori, the Head of Grassroots Activities: “Meeting symbolically to be together, to have fun even off the field, is something special and important,” he explained. “Every day, the staff work to achieve the best alongside the children. The Grassroots Activities represent the first step, and therefore, they are crucial for growth and building the future. It’s not an easy task, filled with daily challenges, but it brings many rewards. This is why Cagliari Calcio works in synergy with all social and local components, to give maximum value to every aspect.”
