The usual annual event with the presentation of the new season of the Cagliari Football Academy, featuring a meeting between Cagliari Calcio, the managers and coaches of the clubs affiliated with the project, and the partners who support it. The focus is on the commitment to not only train future football players, but also to shape better citizens. In the press room of the Unipol Domus, attention was given to the work that began in 2014 and has been continuously developing ever since.
The host of the event was Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini, along with General Manager Stefano Melis, Sporting Director Nereo Bonato, Head of the Cagliari Football Academy Mattia Belfiori, Sporting and Organizational Director of the Youth Sector Pierluigi Carta, and the entire technical and administrative staff managing the project. Also in attendance were Marcello Spano (General Manager of Energit, Main Sponsor), Luca Villasanta (Head of Territory Relations at Saras, Premium Sponsor), and Alessandro Ariu (CEO of EyeSport, technical partner).
THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
“Thank you for being here once again, for the trust you have shown in this project over the years, and for the essential work you do on the field with so many children and young people,” said Giulini to the audience. “You are the key figures because it is through you that the teaching, the foundations, and the guidance for a path to follow within your clubs are passed on, and then, we hope, for as many athletes as possible, into Cagliari. For a decade, we have been pursuing a presence in the territory alongside the talents of our island: it’s not easy, and it’s an ambitious task, but I believe the Academy has shown that synergy, unity of purpose, and strength—also thanks to partners like Energit, Saras, and EyeSport—are the right way forward. Good luck, and above all, good work to everyone.”
A TECHNICAL AND SOCIAL PROJECT
The Cagliari Football Academy, created with the aim of promoting the development of youth football in Sardinia, strengthens the bond between the club and the local community. Aimed at boys and girls aged 6 to 12, the Football Academy offers a unique opportunity for young local talents to grow and improve within their own club. And it doesn’t stop at Sardinia: selected areas of mainland Italy, such as Mazzo di Rho and Lecce, are part of this expanding network. The project has a dual purpose: on one hand, it represents a privileged path for young footballers who dream of one day wearing the Cagliari shirt and perhaps joining the Cagliari Calcio Youth Sector; on the other hand, it aims to be an educational tool for all those young people for whom sport is, first and foremost, a school of life.
HE STRENGTH OF THE TERRITORY AND THE SUPPORT OF PARTNERS
The success of the Cagliari Football Academy would not be possible without the contribution of its partners, who share its values and vision. Marcello Spano (General Manager of Energit), Luca Villasanta (Head of Territory Relations at Saras), and Alessandro Ariu (CEO of EyeSport) emphasized the importance of the project and their support for the growth of youth football in Sardinia. The mission is to provide affiliated clubs with the best training and development methodologies. Thanks to the collaboration between the Cagliari coaching staff and the coaches from the affiliated clubs, young athletes are closely followed, both technically and personally. The meetings and seminars organized at the Assemini Sports Center, led by qualified coaches and educators, are valuable opportunities to ensure the proper psycho-physical development of each player.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
Constant dialogue, the desire to improve, and a passion for football are the cornerstones of the Cagliari Football Academy, which renews itself every year to offer an increasingly engaging and educational experience to its young athletes. The Academy project is not only an opportunity to emerge in the world of professional football, but it is above all a journey of personal growth that will accompany the young players through all stages of their lives.
