The GM Stefano Melis at Dazn

Interviews - 9 February 2025

Stefano Melis, General Manager of Cagliari Calcio, spoke to the microphones of Dazn before the match between Cagliari and Parma at the Unipol Domus.

THE CHALLENGE
“There has been the halfway point, we are in the second half of the season, every match counts, this one might seem a bit more important because we are separated by just one point, but in reality, these are relative discussions at this stage of the season. It’s a direct clash, but it should be approached like one of the many matches ahead of us, focusing on one game at a time, one after another, with the final goal in sight.”

THE CLUB’S PHILOSOPHY
“Cagliari has undergone an internal reorganization at various levels, carried out two and a half years ago. We chose the path of sustainability, both economically and more broadly, in a 360-degree approach. The ownership and management are aligned in working across all fronts, following specific parameters. We are happy with where we are and what we are accomplishing. Some clubs decide to defer or accumulate debt, while others opt for significant capital increases. Cagliari has chosen a rational approach for a virtuous football model, thanks to solid and Italian ownership that always provides support when necessary. Choosing this kind of path involves both sporting and managerial aspects. On the field, we are in line with our programs and values, we have grown technically, and there is a strong team that always plays with an open mindset, often producing a proactive and entertaining style of football against all opponents.”
