We are surprised to learn that Empoli F.C. has started selling tickets for the Empoli-Cagliari match, scheduled for Sunday, April 6th at the “Carlo Castellani” stadium, excluding all residents of the Sardinia region from purchasing tickets, even those in possession of the Cagliari Calcio “Passione Casteddu” loyalty card. To date, Cagliari Calcio is unaware of any official provision confirming this ban.
While we await a provision from the authorities, we sincerely hope that the relevant institutions will carefully consider the well-known difficulties inherent in island status, which already complicate travel for Rossoblu fans. It’s important to note that many supporters have already incurred significant financial costs, purchasing flights or ferry tickets in advance to reach Tuscany and follow their favorite team.
We therefore hope that our supporters will be able to freely exercise their right to follow the team away from home.
Cagliari Calcio has always actively collaborated with the relevant authorities to ensure maximum safety in its stadiums and will continue to do so. However, we express serious concerns about any decisions that continue to indiscriminately and unjustifiably penalize an entire community, traditionally loyal and hospitable, who intend to experience sporting events in compliance with the rules and the spirit of sport.
We therefore trust in fair intervention by the institutions to avoid territorial discrimination and ensure full protection of the rights of the Rossoblu fans. We remind you that in the event of a ban on away matches, our fans can appeal to the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) to have the order revoked—as was recently successfully done by Fiorentina fans for the away match in Monza—or seek compensation for damages resulting from the costs already incurred to purchase travel tickets.
