At the Unipol Domus, a fiery match between Cagliari and Genoa unfolded, finishing 3-3 with constant twists and turns, with each side taking a point. Despite being two goals up, Genoa managed to come back thanks to a late goal from Martin, who outwitted Caprile with a long-range free kick.
Genoa started strongly and broke the deadlock in the 18th minute: Colombo played a triangular pass to Vitinha, who beat Caprile with a powerful left-footed shot. Cagliari, however, responded in the 33rd minute with a perfect header from Borrelli, who was excellently served from a corner by Palestra. But the Grifone didn’t give up: in the 41st minute, defender Ostigard scored first-time from a throw-in to put the visitors back in front. Cagliari responded immediately: in the 43rd minute, Esposito capitalized on a positioning error by the Ligurian defense and scored the 2-2 with a precise outside-footer.
In the second half, the Rossoblu pushed forward with conviction, and in the 60th minute, Borrelli scored his second, heading in a powerful cross from Zappa. It seemed like the decisive move, but Genoa persisted: in the 83rd minute, Martin leveled the score with a long-range free kick; the ball bounced in a tricky way and beat Caprile. Cagliari looked for a late winner in injury time, but the equalizer eluded them: in the 93rd minute, Norton-Cuffy was sent off for a second yellow card, and the Rossoblu were unable to threaten again.
