Sebastiano Esposito spoke to Sky Sport about his personal situation and the team’s preparations for the Bergamo match. Below is an extract of his words.
SQUAD ACTIVITY
“I’m definitely having a fruitful time at the goal-scoring level, but in general I think I’m delivering good performances together with the team. I think the performance was never completely lacking, beyond the goals that are coming. We needed the win against Roma to boost confidence and awareness, we had been missing for a long time. We are a young group that is doing well in Serie A, we are showing that we have values and hunger, we need to continue like this to achieve more and more results like last Sunday’s.”
STRONG GROUP
“I found a healthy, strong group with many friends. There is an important hard core formed over the years, in Cagliari I am really well, a beautiful city, with the sea that is always an extra factor for me that I have traveled a lot in Italy and outside. Here there are all the ingredients to do well, in Bergamo we will be followed by many fans, an extra motivation to try to bring home points, we want to give satisfaction to our people again.”
ESPOSITO FAMILY
“My brothers and I are definitely talked about a lot; we have a special bond. We stay in touch a lot, especially during difficult times, which fortunately have been very few lately. I wish my brother Salvatore a speedy recovery from his injury. Overall, we’re very close beyond football and we support each other on and off the pitch. My experience leading Voluntas Brescia? We took over the club where we grew up because we want as many young people, both there and where we were born, to have opportunities in sport and in life, keeping many young people off the streets and away from the bad influences that can lead to less than desirable situations.”
FUTURE AZZURRO
“The national team is everyone’s dream, but now I’m thinking about Cagliari because the Azzurri jersey comes from what you do with your club. It would be great to play with Italy alongside my brothers, but everything will depend on what I am good at here in Cagliari. For me soccer is everything, I watch so many matches, it has always distinguished my life and forever it will be like that, I am convinced of it.”
