Young Uruguayan defender Juan Rodríguez, in his first season in Italy, met the media after Unipol Domus’s match against Como. These are his statements:

REGRET FOR THE RESULT
“We played a great match against a strong team like Como, which is not surprisingly ranked high in the table. They have very talented players, and they showed it with the second goal; that made the difference. But ours was truly a great performance in every respect. We knew they were aggressive, and we had prepared for the match to do our best with our strengths. The result isn’t fair; it was a tight match; we deserved at least a draw.”

WORKING TO GROW
I had to adapt to a different kind of football. In Uruguay, for example, they don’t play at this pace. The pitch itself is different, but here it’s faster. I worked to adapt both physically and technically, training session after training session, match after match, and each time it got better. The more time passes, the more comfortable I feel. I know I still have to improve in many areas, like my physicality and my reading of the game. Tactically, it’s very different in Uruguay. Serie A is a very difficult league, but I’m adapting to everything as best I can. I’m happy to be able to play consistently, to contribute to helping the team. With every game, I feel things are getting better, and for that, I’m happy.

FOCUS ON PISA
“We take to the field to try to get points against anyone, and we came very close again today. Besides Esposito’s goal, we came close to scoring several times. I’m pleased that Sebastiano scored; for a striker, a goal is always important; it gives him confidence, and that’s also important for the team. It will certainly be an important match against Pisa, a direct clash. We’ll be playing away, and it will certainly be a tight match. We’ll have to go there ready to fight to take home the three points.”
