Cagliari in Germany, friendly match against Union Berlin on 2 August

International appointment for Cagliari who will play in Germany on Sunday 2 August at the “An der Alten Försterei” stadium (2pm) against the hosts Union Berlin. It will be one of the rossoblù’s 2026/27 pre-season friendlies (calendar to be defined).

Cagliari will reach the German capital after the end of the training camp in Ponte di Legno (Brescia): the team will work on the lawn of the Temù municipal field from 22 July to 1 August (here’s the information). In addition to the importance of a test match a few weeks before the start of the season, the friendly match will be a new opportunity for the Club to cross national borders and get closer to its fans who live in Germany and, more generally, in the heart of Europe.

Union Berlin, founded in 1906 as Fussballclub Olympia Oberschönweide, acquired its current name in 1966. From the Second World War to 1991 the club played in the East German championship, achieving its greatest success with a victory in the national cup. In the era following reunification they achieved a German Cup final, a participation in the Champions League (2023-2024 season, after finishing fourth in the league), two in the Europa League and one in the Conference League. Promoted to the Bundesliga in 2019, since then he has always played in the top German league.
