POST-MATCH | Grandu after the friendly match against Modena

Former U20 captain Nicola Grandu, protagonist of Kingstone’s goal which allowed Cagliari to get the better of Modena in a friendly, spoke to the media at the end of the ninety minutes. These are the words of the class of 2006:

GIVE YOUR BEST
“I’m always trying to earn the coach’s trust, both in training and in friendlies. The coach had already told us that some players would play more and others less, but he asked us to give everything, regardless of the minutes we played. I spoke to Deiola these days, and he also reassured me. He told me to play as I know how, without worrying about mistakes or the consequences. So I came in and tried to help the team by doing what I could.”

THE SERIE A DREAM
“When I was little, I didn’t think about Serie A; the dream was born when I started playing for Cagliari. I’m honored to have this opportunity. I’m trying to learn as much as I can from everyone and give my all every day, then we’ll see. There’s nothing better than reaching Serie A with Cagliari, for me, a Sardinian.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MISTER
“The coach is a mentor to me; he was one of the first to believe in my potential. He convinced me I could play at a certain level. He scolds me a lot, but I’m happy about it, because it means he cares and is trying to make me improve. And I try to do everything he asks me to do. My height is my greatest strength; if I had been even ten centimeters taller, I wouldn’t have been this way. So, that’s fine.”
