INTERVIEW 🎙️ | Kevin Carlos’ first words

Born in Ceuta but soon after moving to Huesca, Kevin Carlos is one of Cagliari’s new faces for the 2026/2027 season. The Spanish striker of Nigerian origins spoke to the club’s official channels about his first words in red and blue, awaiting his debut after experiencing the match atmosphere on the bench against Parma.

A SPECIAL WELCOME
«My arrival in Cagliari was truly very welcoming. From my first steps here on the island, people welcomed me with great warmth. The Club also placed a lot of trust in me. They explained the project to me and this convinced me to come to such an important club, with such a great history as that of Cagliari. The team welcomed me very well. Everyone was very kind to me, helped me a lot and showed me every detail immediately. The truth is, it’s a really great group. In training there is a lot of intensity and you can see that there is a lot of quality in all departments. I’m very well, I’m happy.”

THE ENERGY OF THE FANS
«I really liked the first match. The team showed a lot of energy, strength and intensity. The fact that the Cagliari fans supported the team in that way even away to Parma is wonderful. They transmitted their energy to us. You can really feel it and the boys repaid them with the three points, which is the most important thing. Already when I arrived on the island I felt the fans’ love for these colours. I really feel that they are very attached to Cagliari and what we players have to do is go on the pitch in every match and give everything. We have to show that we will always fight. That’s what they want from us.”

THE CHALLENGE WITH INTER
«Inter is obviously a very strong team. We trained all week to show the best version of ourselves in the match and demonstrate that it won’t be easy to face us, especially at home. I’m convinced that the group will play a great match.” A further motivation for those who, like Carlos, arrive in Serie A with great ambitions: «We will face great players and it will be a great match. This is also why I came here, because the Club is very important and has been doing things in the right way for many years.”

A GROWTH PATH
“I arrived in Switzerland, and it was a very positive time for me, helping me grow significantly as a footballer. I’m truly happy and grateful for all of this. Today I’m here at Cagliari, and I’m very happy. I’m arriving with a lot of ambition and determination to continue growing.”

FROM THE DREAMS TO SERIE A
I’ve always wanted to become a professional soccer player. I’ve played for several teams, and from each one I’ve learned something useful for my career. You always have to look on the bright side of things, and that’s helped me get to where I am today. I’d describe myself as a strong player with my back to goal and who really enjoys battling with central defenders. I’m also a striker who knows how to finish in the box; I like making my presence felt inside the box and also attacking spaces. I love helping the team; it’s essential for a striker to do so: sacrifice, press. I came here to contribute to the team; the team’s result comes first.

I enjoy this responsibility and want to turn it into positive energy on the pitch for the team and the fans. Above all, I want to bring these fans a lot of joy, because they deserve it. The primary goal is for Cagliari to finish as high as possible in the league table, because that’s what really matters and what can bring happiness to everyone in the city. That’s what we want. For me, the primary goal is for everyone to be happy, and that obviously comes through hard work and results. I’d really love the opportunity to play in the top half of the league with Cagliari, or maybe, if possible, lift a trophy with Cagliari. Why not? It would be a magnificent dream come true.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a clear example of an athlete and a man whose career hasn’t been easy. He’s had to work hard, and above all, I look at what he represents: the work that often goes unseen, what you do after training, at home, taking care of yourself, nutrition, and everything else. I think I’ve adopted that mentality thanks to him. He motivates me a lot and I think he’s a great role model.”

“The people who have helped me the most, and who do so every day, are my family: my parents, my siblings, my wife, and my son. They are the people who are by my side in both good times and difficult times. I rely on them a lot, and they are the ones who inspire and motivate me every day.”

“When I won both the league and the cup, in Basel. That season helped me a lot, it taught me so much, and I think it’s a memory I’ll always carry with me. I’m also ambitious and want to build even more wonderful memories, and doing so with Cagliari would be wonderful.”
