Borrelli joins Caykur Rizespor

Cagliari Calcio announces that the sporting rights of Gennaro Borrelli have been transferred to Caykur Rizespor, with the striker moving to the Turkish club on loan until the end of the 2026/2027 season, with an option to buy.

Born in Campobasso in 2000, Borrelli came through the youth ranks at Pescara, where he was the top scorer in Primavera 2 and made his professional debut. He then played for Cosenza, Juve Stabia, Monopoli and Frosinone. With the Ciociari, he won promotion to Serie A and made his top-flight debut. After a spell with Brescia back in Serie B, he moved to Sardinia in the summer of 2025.

In his first season with the Rossoblù, he made 30 appearances. His Cagliari debut came on 24 August, when he started in the match against Fiorentina at Unipol Domus. On 23 September, he scored his first goal for the Club against Frosinone in the Coppa Italia, followed on 5 October by his first Serie A goal away to Udinese. He ended the season with 6 goals and 2 assists. He featured in both Serie A matches in the 2026/2027 season, coming off the bench on both occasions.
