Gabriele Zappa spoke on the Radiolina and Videolina programme ‘Il Cagliari in diretta’: From the importance of the victory against Atalanta to the declaration of love for the red-blue fans. These are his words:
VICTORY AGAINST ATALANTA
“The week leading up to the match was characterised by a positive air that made us very confident and aware of our potential. Then, in the match, everyone always gave their best: after their goal we managed to have a good reaction, with Augello’s equalising goal we fuelled our desire to win the match. They were 3 fundamental points, a victory that gives us a lot of confidence for the end of the season”.
STRONG EMOTIONS
“Since last year we have always experienced very strong emotions: this year we have already completed some comebacks in the final minutes, which have brought us several victories. But the greatest emotion, surely, will come if we manage to achieve salvation.”
ENDLESS FANS
“The drive of the fans is truly something incredible: the stadium drags you along and this is evident from the excellent results obtained at Unipol Domus. Personally I needed to experience Sardinia more and experience the fans more to really understand how much love they can give us. Now I feel very close to them, they always make you feel so much affection, even away. They travel so many kilometres to support us everywhere, this is fantastic”.
RELEGATION BATTLE
“There are still many games to go and there are still a lot of points available. Thanks to the last results we have certainly managed to take a big breath of fresh air, but we still have to fight hard and we will do so until we reach safety”.
SAN SIRO MATCH
“Against Inter we have to fight and play a more than perfect game. They are the strongest team in the league and we have to give more than 100 per cent otherwise it’s not enough. It will be a beautiful match, which everyone dreams of playing because there will be a full stadium and they are very charged up: we will motivate ourselves in this way to bring home a positive result.”
FIRST GOAL IN RED AND BLUE
“The most beautiful goal, and probably the most important of my career so far, was the one I scored against Ascoli last year. There was a lot behind that goal: I was coming from a dark period due to the death of my cousin, it was a goal that was also a personal revenge compared to the previous season that ended with relegation, and it was also my first goal in the red and blue jersey. Impossible to forget it”.
