Pisacane: ‘Great team performance’

Coach Pisacane spoke to the media at the end of the match his Primavera team won against Atalanta 3-1.

QUALITY AND ORGANISATION
“In the first half we did not finalise what we had built: so many actions, it could have been a downhill race. It had already happened to us last week. Football, however, is also beautiful for this: this time in the second half we managed to find the way to the net and three goals arrived against a respectable opponent, who had won against Sassuolo and in Turin. Atalanta occupy the top positions in the standings, they have 53 points, they certainly didn’t do it by chance, but in front they found an organised team, which from week to week reinforces its playing concepts, its principles and which in the second half was also able to be cynical”.

THE GOALKEEPING TEAM
“Iliev was among the protagonists, he parried the penalty. In recent weeks he was not on the pitch, certainly not through any fault of his own. At youth level, management makes a difference, you cannot leave a 2005 boy on the bench for months. I have some good goalkeepers at my disposal, with potential, even Wodzicky showed that with some good performances. So I tried to alternate them during the season, doing a good management, taking some risks perhaps, which I would take again, because you cannot follow the logic of a first team. This management allows us to get answers from both of them and, one day, it will be possible to have a clearer evaluation on both of them. During the season they have done good things and made mistakes, as is normal: I am happy with both of them”.

THE WORK OF THE YOUTH SECTOR
“I am satisfied with Marini and Franke. On the penalty kick the opponent did well, in any case it was not easy for him on his debut. Malfitano? He’s a boy we’ve been focusing on since last year, today he repays the choice made by the club. He comes from our youth academy a 2007 who scores in the Primavera 1 championship, it’s a success for our youth sector: I congratulate everyone, all those who work behind the scenes every day, without them Malfitano would not have made this journey”.

MANY IMPROVEMENTS
“In the possession phase we never use a single module, we do a lot of rotations. The turnaround was not tactical, but given by the lads: by those who were on the pitch, by those who entered with the desire to take the stage and give their contribution to the team. Any regrets about this season? No, when we started the value of the squad was not that. It’s a very young team, among the youngest in the league: I don’t want to take credit, but these guys have made great improvements over the course of the season. Perhaps the regret may be that we left a few points on the road, but I can say that we deserve this ranking. For the play-offs, however, we will try until the end”.
