As part of the Media Day organized with Lega Calcio Serie A, rossoblù midfielder Michel Adopo gave an exclusive interview to Sky Sport. He said:
DENTITY AND CONFIDENCE
“What kind of Cagliari are we seeing? A Cagliari that defends, that knows how to suffer, like last season. This is our second year with the coach, and we have even more of an identity, a clear playing style. We’re satisfied. Compared to last season, we’re almost the same players, some new ones have arrived who are giving us a significant boost, and we’re building on the work we did last season. We have even more confidence: this is a healthy, young group. We want to work hard and improve. Ours is a team that doesn’t want to concede goals, and every match becomes tough for every opponent”.
THE COACH’S WORK
“Our relationship with the coach makes the difference. We believe in him a lot. He explains everything to us during the week, before the game, so when we step onto the pitch, we know exactly what we have to do and we play without fear. This also shows in our games, we always give our all. We’re a young team, and we still have a lot of room for improvement. I think this team can do very well, but we must never forget the basics: not conceding goals and always fighting for every ball”.
AIMING FOR IMPROVEMENT
“I take inspiration from many midfielders. In Serie A, for example, I look at McTominay and Rabiot. They’re complete: they can perform both phases of the game, they impact the game. They score goals, they know how to change the direction of a match. I aim to be one of those players who can also make this impact. My goal? To improve my stats, to do better than last year. I’m a player who values teamwork: in possession, I like to create play; when we don’t have the ball, I try to help my teammate. Making that extra run is normal for me”.
