Rossoblù defender Raphael Kofler, a 2005-born player from South Tyrol who arrived in Sardinia this summer from Südtirol, gave an interview to TGR RAI Sardegna. Here are his words:
THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT TO GROW
“It’s really beautiful here. I used to come to Sardinia on holiday; now it has become my workplace. Everyone welcomed me really well: the team, the staff, the kit managers, the kitchen staff, everyone at the Club. They made me feel at home straight away: everything is here to do well.”
THE ISLAND’S WELCOME
“Do I miss the mountains of Trentino-Alto Adige? Definitely. I left my heart at home: my family, my friends, everything. But, honestly, I didn’t expect to feel so good here. At home I have the mountains; now I can live by the sea. I think that’s one of the best things that can happen to a young person like me. It was the first time I’d ever left home. I was a little apprehensive; it wasn’t an easy decision, it was a big step. But I’m really enjoying it here.”
REPLAYING THE TRUST
“The Coach’s kind words about me are a source of great pride. Knowing that your coach believes in you is important. But now it’s up to me to show on the pitch that he’s right and repay his trust. My position? I prefer to play as a centre-back; it doesn’t make much difference whether I’m on the right or the left.”
