🎙️ INTERVIEW | Winks to DAZN

During the Media Day organized with Lega Calcio Serie A, *Rossoblù* midfielder Harry Winks spoke to DAZN. Here are his comments:

WHY CAGLIARI
“I returned to Italy after three years, after playing with Sampdoria, because my experience in Genoa was difficult: we lost many matches, but I really appreciated my experience in Serie A. I liked football, the culture of Italian football and Italy in general. Coming to a place like Cagliari, a truly very passionate club, with a very passionate fan base, in an island where Cagliari is the most important team, really means feeling a sense of belonging, of family with the fans. It’s a beautiful place to live, it’s a fantastic club with a great history. We can try to do something exciting this year, I hope so.”

THE COACH
“I’ve worked with many great coaches in my career, and I have to say that Coach Pisacane is certainly at the very top level. He understands football at an incredibly high level. Since I arrived here, he has already improved everyone, myself included. I really enjoy working with him; I think he can reach the very top of the sport.”

IDENTITY AND ATTITUDE
“We have started the season very well. But we must not get carried away by the position in the table, we are only at the fifth matchday and there is still a lot to play for. We are a very humble team, we work every day with the aim of remaining in Serie A, which is very important for Cagliari: first of all we have to achieve safety. If we continue to improve, which we are doing, and continue to be a dangerous team both with and without the ball, we can perhaps achieve something special. But now I think it is very important not to get carried away: I am Only five games have been played, we have to take it one game at a time and see where we are.”

EXPERIENCE, YOUTH, QUALITY
“I feel like I’m one of the most experienced players, one of the leaders of the group. It’s important: even from an age point of view, I’m one of the greatest in this team. We have a lot of young people, a lot of quality, a lot of players who in my opinion can still improve and reach the highest levels. Since I arrived, I’ve been impressed by the quality of many players. I think you can also see it with Romano, who has now come to play with the Italian national team too, he’s doing very well. I know his personality, he will continue to work hard: I think he’s a player who can I was really struck by his mentality, his work ethic. Every day he is very focused on improving, on work, and I think that, for a footballer, this is the most important thing. You can have all the quality and all the skills in the world, but you need that mentality and that dedication to work. Mister and the staff.”

LEICESTER
“It is difficult to explain Leicester’s double relegation. There are many issues that can lead to a situation like that; I don’t think it comes down to just one thing. But it is a fantastic club. I know how highly regarded Ranieri is at Leicester: what he achieved there is incredible, just as it was here at Cagliari. Leicester is a club I have fond memories of and respect greatly; I hope they can return to where they belong.”

HUMILITY AND HARD WORK
“I think that in Italy it is possible for any team to break the mould, try to change the balance of the championship. We have the quality in the team to make a further leap in quality. I am very convinced of the quality of the coach and the players we have, I think we can do something special, but it is very important to remain humble. We are only at the fifth matchday and there is still a lot to play for. We will have to continue to work hard, remain humble, try to improve every week and play without fear. But, as I said, the most important thing now it’s about staying humble, remembering that we’re still at the beginning of the season, there’s still a lot, a lot to play for.”
