🎙️INTERVIEW | Caprile with the media

A few days before Unipol Domus’s match against Como, Rossoblù goalkeeper Elia Caprile met with the media at the Doppio Malto premises in Sestu, in the La Corte del Sole shopping centre. These are his words:

THE PARMA PERFORMANCE
“The save against Pellegrino in Parma? It was a great save, a mix of technique and instinct: I moved well, I had the right posture, and a bit of luck was also needed. Folorunsho’s goal? Folo scored a truly fantastic goal, which allowed us to take home a deserved point.”

SATURDAY AGAINST COMO
“On Saturday we’ll be playing against a strong team. It’ll be a tough match, with plenty of pitfalls: yesterday in the Coppa Italia, Como held Inter to a draw; in the league, they’re fighting to qualify for the Champions League. We’re preparing well to be ready, and we can’t wait to get on the pitch and put ourselves to the test.”

FOCUS ON THE GOAL
Everyone’s goal is to secure Serie A relegation as quickly as possible, then we can focus on achieving other successes. I don’t know how many points we’d need to mathematically stay up: there are still many games to go, so let’s take it one game at a time and get as many points as possible. My future? It’s called Cagliari-Como, that’s the only thing that matters to me. We have a very young coach and squad, and that’s certainly never been a problem. The club immediately took this approach, and the President has entrusted a very experienced Director. So far, we’ve earned thirty points, a good haul.

RED AND BLUE PRIDE
“Being recognized by the Coach, the staff, the locker room, and the entire Cagliari environment as a leader is something beautiful and positive, but at the same time it comes with responsibilities. I’m learning to manage them. For me, it’s a joy and an honor to be among the captains of this team. Cagliari is an important step in my career; they placed their trust in me last year, something few teams would have done at that time. I’m grateful to this club, to this city, where my son Edoardo was born just three months ago.”

DREAMING THE NATIONAL TEAM
“The national team is a dream, I work every day to get called up again. But I’m staying focused solely on Cagliari because, as I’ve always said, only by doing well can further success come. The meeting with coach Gattuso? He came to visit us in Parma, and we had a nice chat. He took the time to meet with us, and I was very pleased. What did he say? It’s between us.”

WORK TO IMPROVE
“For a goalkeeper, not conceding a goal is always nice, but the team’s result is always what matters. Football is changing, and so is the role of the goalkeeper. Today, we’re expected to be able to play with our feet, but first and foremost, a good goalkeeper must be very strong between the posts. Mistakes? It’s part of the game, you have to accept it: when I made mistakes, I focused on my work; that’s the only way to improve. To a young man who wants to pursue this profession, I’d say work hard, be ready to make a lot of sacrifices. And if you make a mistake, you move on. Everyone makes mistakes.”
