Portuguese defender Zé Pedro, in his first season with the Rossoblu, gave an exclusive interview to Tuttomercatoweb. Below is an extract of his words:
ALWAYS AIMING FOR THE TOP
“The victory in Florence – like all victories – gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of our journey. Getting three points always gives you great motivation and positivity for our daily work. Now we must persevere to maintain this momentum. Saturday will be a tough match, a direct clash, but we’re aiming to achieve our best.”
ARRIVAL IN SARDINIA AND SERIE A
Throughout my career, I’ve always had the ambition of playing in a league like the Italian one—challenging, high-quality, and challenging. I’m so grateful to Cagliari for the opportunity they’ve given me; I want to play my cards right every day. The negotiations this summer? It all happened very quickly; we were in the final stages of the transfer window. I don’t know if the two clubs (Porto and Cagliari) had already spoken to each other in the past. This opportunity came up, and I had the opportunity to speak directly with Coach Pisacane, immediately feeling his trust. I had no hesitation in pursuing the discussion and moving to Sardinia. Compared to the Portuguese league, the Italian league is more physical, intense, and tactical. There’s great strategy, attention to the match plan, to what’s prepared during the week and then implemented on the pitch.
COACH PISACANE
“The coach is very important. He played as a defender in Serie A, he knows every game situation well, having experienced them as a player until a few years ago. He helps you improve every day, he knows exactly how to prepare you to face matches at your best. He has great sensitivity towards each individual player, on and off the pitch, and this is certainly very useful for us.”
THE FEELINGS IN CAGLIARI
“I’ve felt good in Cagliari since day one, and that’s no small feat, because it’s my first experience away from my hometown and very far from my family. Some of them have been able to visit the city by visiting me. Yes, I hope to stay here for a long time, because it would mean continuing a journey I’ve just begun, and after the injury, it’s leading me to give my contribution even more. I feel great; fortunately, things went well after the minor surgery. I’m happy to be able to help the team consistently in this second half of the season. I have to continue working with them to achieve my best.”
