Alessandro Romano joins Cagliari

Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the acquisition of the right to the sporting performances of the footballer Alessandro Gianni Romano, who transfers from AS Roma with the loan formula with obligation to buy upon the occurrence of certain sporting conditions. The player has signed a contract that binds him to the rossoblù colors until 30 June 2032.

Born in Winterthur, Canton of Zurich, on June 17, 2006, a Swiss midfielder with an Italian passport, Alessandro grew up in a family deeply rooted in football. His formative years began in the Winterthur club’s youth academy, where he developed until 2022, the year he moved to Roma. Season after season, he established himself as one of the capital’s most exciting prospects with the Giallorossi. After his time with the Under-17s, he stood out for his consistent performances, technical ability, and personality at the Under-18 and Under-20 levels.

In the following season he established himself firmly in the Primavera 1 championship (63 appearances, 11 goals and 5 assists between the championship and the Italian Cup), showing off important scoring and finishing qualities. His performances also allowed him to get closer to the football of the greats, until he made his debut in Serie A with the Roma shirt: on 6 January 2026 in Lecce, then on 10 January at home against Sassuolo, another space towards the end of the match. His debut in the top flight preceded his move to Spezia (Serie B) for the second part of the season, making a total of 19 appearances with one assist to his credit and constant use as a starter.

Naturally left-footed, Romano is a modern midfielder who combines technical quality, game vision and construction ability. A playmaker by training, he can act in front of the defense or as a midfielder, standing out for his precision in passing, vertical readings and ability to have an impact even in the final meters thanks to insertions and long-range finishing. During his career he also wore the shirt of the Swiss youth selections, confirming himself as one of the most promising profiles of his generation. A talented player with ample room for growth, Romano arrives in the rossoblù to continue his maturation process and put his qualities at the service of the Club.
