Cagliari Hosts the Integrity Tour 2023-24

Rossoblù World - 17/01/2024

The Integrity Tour 2023-24, an initiative promoted by Serie A League, Sportradar, and the Institute for Sports Credit – now in its ninth edition – aimed at strengthening the culture of legality in football and spreading the true values of sports, made a stop at the CRAI Sport Center in Assemini, the training ground of Cagliari Calcio.

This afternoon, the red and blue sports center hosted three workshops involving the first team and, subsequently, the Primavera and Under-17 teams.

Objective: to educate and train all athletes, from the youngest to the most experienced, about the seriousness of the match-fixing phenomenon, combat sports fraud, and ensure the regular conduct of competitions.

During the meetings, lawyer Marcello Presilla, Integrity Manager for Italy at Sportradar AG, explained to the players the match-fixing phenomenon in all its forms, outlining the risks and consequences and describing the profile of the so-called “fixers,” criminals who seek to involve players in sports fraud by any means possible, jeopardizing their careers and the credibility of the football system itself. Presilla then delved into the issues related to violations in betting and the correct use of social media by players.

“We have the great responsibility of being an example for many young people, who see us players as role models: honesty, loyalty are the values we want to contribute to spreading,” said the red and blue captain, Leonardo Pavoletti. “Meetings like today’s, involving the younger ones as well, are very important because they serve to inform, prevent, and combat the match-fixing phenomenon. Football is the most beautiful game in the world, and safeguarding its fairness and integrity must be the goal of everyone.”

The Integrity Tour will continue in the coming weeks with meetings in all Italian cities hosting Serie A TIM teams, aiming to raise awareness among the protagonists of the top Italian football league about the importance of legality in sports.
