Como-Cagliari’s run against the Newton Pride at the TST World 7-a-side football tournament held at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina (USA) ended in the round of 16.

The delegation consisted of seven players from the Cagliari Primavera team (Sofiane Achour, Alessandro Bolzan, Riyad Idrissi, Diego Marcolini, Matteo Amos Marini, Simone Renna, Jacopo Simonetta), eight from the Como Primavera team (Federico Chinetti, Francesco Lipari, Jack Fellipe, Giuseppe Mazzaglia, Marco Ortelli, Matteo Piombino, Naj Razi, Fabio Rispoli) and an American boy (Nickolas Hanushack) who won a scholarship offered by the Como team to participate in the tournament. The technical staff included Fabio Pisacane as coach accompanied by Como collaborators Massimiliano Gatto, Marco Cassetti, Filippo Sassi and team manager Giuseppe Calandra.

Como-Cagliari easily topped the group stage round in first place by winning the first match 3-2 against City Soccer Society thanks to goals from Naj Razi, Fellipe Jack and Jacopo Simonetta. In the second match came a 2-1 defeat against Villarreal, but in the last match of the round the Italian team beat North Carolina FC 3-1 thanks to goals from Alessandro Bolzan, Diego Marcolini and Jacopo Simonetta.

In the first knockout round (16th final) Como-Cagliari won 4-2 against Hoya Nation, with Sofiane Achour scoring a hat-trick and Alessandro Bolzan scoring the decisive goal. In the last game, after recovering from a two-goal disadvantage thanks to goals by Naj Razi and Jacopo Simonetta, the boys ended their journey as they were beaten by the reigning tournament champions, who decided the game with a penalty kick 20 seconds after Simonetta’s 3vs3 equaliser.
The 2024 edition of the tournament was eventually won by La Bombonera, who beat Nani Fc 4-0 in the final.

It was a unique experience for the boys of the two Primavera teams because they proved themselves in an international tournament at which legends such as Aguero, Nani, Materazzi, Giuseppe Rossi and Bruno Alves, among others, were present.

As well as an opportunity to promote the brands of the two Clubs and two beautiful locations such as Lake Como and Sardinia: a dedicated stand was organised in the Fan Zone with various targeted activities, from Summer Camp to typical local products such as Cagliari chips and nougat from Aritzo
