Recognition for winning the Coppa Italia Primavera and for their work in the youth sector: Cagliari Calcio, with Rossoblù President Tommaso Giulini, was honored this evening in Milan, at the Banco BPM Auditorium, during the presentation of the “Italo Galbiati” youth football memorial, now in its third edition.
IN MEMORY OF ITALO GALBIATI
“I want to thank Cimiano Calcio and the Galbiati family for this wonderful recognition. Receiving this award for winning the Coppa Italia Primavera and, more generally, for the work Cagliari Calcio is doing with young players is truly an honor. Italo Galbiati was a master; he taught football, and he was a true inspiration for so many young players who were able to grow and develop their talent and potential thanks to his guidance,” said President Giulini.
WORKING WITH YOUTH
“For a club like ours, working on the youth sector is vital. Winning the Coppa Italia Primavera, right here in Milan, in the evocative setting of the Arena Civica “Gianni Brera,” was thrilling; it had never happened before in the club’s more than a century-long history. Beyond the satisfaction of being able to lift a trophy, I believe that success helped validate the work we’ve done over the years with our players, with the clear goal of building ever stronger from the foundations. The promotion of Coach Pisacane, a young and well-prepared coach who fully embodies our values and ideals, to the first team was therefore a key but, at the same time, natural choice. Today we are among the youngest teams in Serie A, and in our squad we can boast eight players who have come through our youth sector and are making their mark: above all, I think of Obert, who is also establishing himself internationally with his native Slovakia; and Idrissi, who came from the Academy and, after a career in our youth system, has arrived today. in the Italian U21 team. In addition to him, the other Sardinians Deiola, Ciocci, and Pintus, all homegrown. As well as Luvumbo, Cavuoti, and Liteta, a 2006 player who has already made his debut in the top division.
