Guest on Radiolina, during the show Il Cagliari in diretta, Mattia Felici discussed his personal situation and the Rossoblù team, just two days before the match in Bergamo against Atalanta.
IL LINK CON MARCO MANCOSU
“With Marco Mancosu, we played together at Lecce, and even back then, he gave me a lot of advice. I had just arrived in the professional football world, in Serie B. Unfortunately, he got injured and played less, but Marco means a lot to Cagliari and Sardinia, in addition to having had a great career around Italy. I know he has always spoken highly of me since I arrived here, and I thank him. At Lecce, I also reunited with coach Fabio Liverani, I still keep in touch with him; I had him at Tor Tre Teste, and it was he who gave me my debut in Serie B. My beginnings? I was a Roma fan in Lazio, then, of course, the real start, with the awareness of the dream of becoming a footballer, at Tor Tre Teste. I worked my way up through all the categories, and now I’m taking on this challenge at Cagliari.”
SLIDING DOOR
“The match against Verona was crucial for me; I felt the magic and the push from the fans who were expecting something special from me. Then, in Monza and Milan at the beginning of 2025, the goals I nearly scored, the feeling that I can really be part of this Serie A. It’s a tough league, there are many challenging duels, but on the field, you suffer less than when you’re on the outside like a fan. Together, we’re chasing the survival goal and we’re on track with this journey.”
TOWARDS BERGAMO
“They played yesterday and they might be tired, who knows. We know what we can do, they are among the strongest opponents around, but we will go as always and play our game. When you play against big teams, you always give something more. Now we have an important and challenging trio of matches ahead of us, against the odds, and we’ll have to give our best to get as many points as possible. We started 2025 well, but in Turin, we couldn’t express ourselves even though we were very pumped. We bounced back against Parma with a heavy win for both the standings and the morale.”
CAGLIARI IN DESTINY
“My girlfriend had this feeling for a long time. Her father, who is no longer with us, was from Goni, and that’s where I went as soon as I arrived in Cagliari, welcomed with honors and lots of local food. Sara told me that I would come to Cagliari to play, she had this feeling when it was talked about leaving Feralpisalò, and I’m happy. I really like the city, I feel very comfortable here, I love walking around with my dog Teo and with Sara on sunny days. And when it rains? PlayStation.”
DISCOVERING COMAN
“I call him Comanil, as Marin told us, that’s what they call him in Romania. He’s a good guy, he still needs to learn Italian, but he has quality and will help us with his technique and speed.”
THE COACH’S ADVICE
“He pushes me a lot, as he does with everyone. He tries to bring out the qualities in each of us, we’ve almost never made mistakes in terms of performance or attitude. We’re on a path of technical and moral values, and he communicates very well with great passion. He has always said that with young players, you need time, and that gives you great peace of mind. We need to keep going like this, following our beliefs. We’ve shown that we can achieve some satisfaction from now until the end.”
FRIENDSHIP IN FOOTBALL
“It’s very important, it allows you to experience the work with less stress and to move beyond just the on-field issues. Here, I’ve bonded a lot with Zappa, Augello, and Zortea, among others: we have fun outside of training and in life off the field. In Salò, I met Ceppitelli, Sau, and Kourfalidis, three guys who, for different reasons, are strongly connected to Cagliari and Sardinia, and I still keep in touch with them.”
