Gaetano joins Atalanta

Cagliari Calcio announces the permanent transfer of midfielder Gianluca Gaetano to Atalanta.

Born in 2000, Gaetano arrived in Sardinia in February 2024 and immediately showcased his qualities, scoring four goals and providing one assist in his first 11 appearances. Following his initial loan spell, his move to Cagliari was made permanent, a milestone that the Cimitile-born midfielder himself strongly desired. He quickly settled into his new surroundings, earning the appreciation of teammates and supporters alike thanks to his commitment and unwavering dedication.

Technique, determination, creativity and vision enabled him to excel in a variety of midfield roles, from attacking midfielder to deep-lying playmaker. He played an important part in helping the team achieve its objectives over the past two seasons. Overall, he made 76 appearances and scored nine goals, three of them during the last campaign, including the decisive winner in the 1-0 home victory over Roma at a crucial stage of the season.
