Gaetano Oristanio on “Videolina Sport”

Interviews - 10/03/2024

“After Lazio we compacted further, the draw came in Udine and from there another seven points in three matches. We are in the running for our goal, but the road is still very long. We must all remain united, concentrated, continue to work as we are doing”: Gaetano Oristanio spoke on the ‘Videolina Sport’ programme.

CONFIDENCE AND AWARENESS
“Serie A is a difficult league, there can be times when you lose your way. Thanks to the club, the coach and our fans, we managed to overcome a complicated phase. What we’ve done in these last four matches certainly gives you morale and confidence: it’s fundamental, however, not to think about the league table now, but to reason game by game. The one with Monza will be a very tricky match, they are a team that is doing well and will play in front of their own public”.

THE INJURY
“Being out for so long was tough, especially because the team was struggling and I couldn’t do anything to help my teammates. Once I was back on the pitch the adrenaline was high, I couldn’t wait to play and help the team again, that was the important thing in my head”.

LEARNING FROM MISTAKES
“What happened against Salernitana must help us. As soon as you let your guard down a little and lose concentration in Serie A they punish you, it must not happen again. I’m very happy for Eldor: he too came back from a long injury, similar to mine, we did rehabilitation together and I understand his satisfaction. I know how much he wanted to come back and play and be decisive”.

ABOUT THE ROLE
“I was born as a central advanced midfielder, but the more the years go by, the more I understand the importance of being able to play several roles going forward: the outside forward, the second forward or even the forward. The coach, with his experience, gives us a lot, not only on a footballing level but also on a human level: thanks to the years spent at a high level he gives you confidence, mentality and many other qualities that you need to improve as a man and a player”.

YOUTH AND EXPERIENCE
“In the team there are not 11 starters, but 25 players who are ready and focused: those who play as starters must be in the game immediately, those who come in know that they can be decisive. In the group there is the right mix of young and experienced players: they help us with a lot of advice, we bring a little more lightness, which can help at certain times”.

THE HAPPY ISLAND
“Serie A has always been my dream: I grew up in the youth sector of Inter Milan, which also gave me the opportunity to do two wonderful years in Holland, where I grew as a man and as a player. Now I am here in Cagliari and, in addition to a splendid group, I have found a land and a splendid people that I have begun to love: here there is everything to feel good’.
