Gaetano to Cagliari

The Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the acquisition of the sporting rights of the player Gianluca Gaetano, who is transferring from Napoli on loan until the end of the 2023-24 sports season.

Born in Cimitile in the year 2000, he grew up in the youth ranks of Napoli. In the Primavera, he was a key player with 43 goals and 25 assists, achieved in over 90 matches. Numbers and performances that quickly led him to make his debut in the first team – which took place on January 13, 2019 – at just 18 years old, in Napoli-Sassuolo of the Coppa Italia. A year later, he went on loan to Serie B with Cremonese: with the grey-red team, he played 86 times, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists, making a crucial contribution to the team’s promotion to Serie A in the 2021/22 season.

Returning to the base, on May 21, 2023, he scores his first goal in Serie A, in the 3-1 victory against Inter, culminating in being crowned Champion of Italy at the end of the season. With Napoli, across the Champions League, league, and national cups, he has played 31 matches with 2 goals.

He has 16 appearances and 2 goals with the jersey of the Italian youth national teams.

A versatile midfielder, used both in the central and attacking midfield positions or as a high winger, Gaetano is a player with excellent technical qualities: pronounced offensive skills, a good long-range shot, dribbling ability, and great vision of the game enable him to create plays and provide enticing assists to his teammates.
