Cagliari Calcio announces the transfer of Zito Luvumbo, who will join Real Club Deportivo Mallorca on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season with an option to buy.
Born in Luanda, Angola, in 2002, he arrived in Sardinia at just 18 years old, joining the Primavera team but quickly moving into the first team. The following season, after a brief stint with Como, he returned to the island: he scored 11 goals in 19 games, starring in the Primavera team’s run to the Scudetto semifinal.
He made his first-team debut with an assist on August 5, 2022, in the 3-2 Coppa Italia victory against Perugia. He would be among the key players in Cagliari’s swift return to Serie A: he made 36 appearances, with 3 goals and 3 assists, and was a key player in the playoffs. In the first leg of the semifinal against Parma, he literally turned the tide: coming off the bench with the team trailing by two goals, he scored a brace, including the goal that made it 3-2.
In the following two seasons in the top flight, he contributed to the club’s goal of staying up: in the 2023/24 season, he played 30 games, scoring four goals and six assists; last season, he appeared 26 times, scoring two goals and providing the same number of assists. He has played 14 games in this first half of the season.
Zito leaves Cagliari after a total of 117 matches: the Club thanks him warmly for his dedication to the Rossoblù cause during these years in Sardinia, a long stage in his career that saw him grow as a man and a footballer, and wishes him the best for the rest of the season.
