MATCH REPORT | Cagliari-Roma 1-0

A resounding Cagliari side narrowly defeated Roma 1-0, thanks to Gaetano’s 83rd-minute goal after a top-notch performance from start to finish. The Rossoblu returned to winning ways, well deserved and crowning a period of constant growth thanks to daily hard work.

Pisacane retains Rodriguez after his strong performance in Naples, alongside Luperto. Zappa and Obert are the full-backs. Deiola is in the middle with Adopo and Folorunsho. Palestra supports Borrelli and Esposito on the right.

CAGLIARI DOMAIN

The Rossoblu’s first chance came in the 6th minute after a fine move, with Obert’s low cross for Adopo, who controlled it and was blocked for a corner. In the 8th minute, Ndicka made a decisive save to deny Borrelli, who was on target, thanks to a great save from the central defender.

Cagliari started strongly, and in the 12th minute Borrelli again went deep on Deiola’s first-time pass, but the striker then sent it wide. Another good move for the Rossoblu came in the 16th minute, with Palestra’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box failing to be easily saved by Svilar. Another chance came in the 24th minute when Folorunsho headed the ball past Svilar from a cross from the right. Then Esposito fired over from the edge of the box after a Borrelli pass in the 69th minute. Prati and Gaetano then came on for exhausted Zappa and Borrelli. Roma brought on Ghilardi for Tsimikas in the 73rd minute. Palestra then produced magic in the 76th minute: Cagliari played a splendid move from left to right, dribbling past two men and firing a left-footed shot against the far post, nearly taking the lead. Substitution in the 77th minute, with Obert replaced by Idrissi. Controversy arose in the 79th minute when Palestra again ran down the wing, this time being brought down by Ghilardi, but the referee ruled out a penalty. Skirmish on the pitch, Folorunsho and Hermoso booked for mutual foul play.

Unipol Domus deservedly exploded, finally in the 83rd minute: Esposito’s perfect corner to the far post was stopped by Gaetano, who chested it down and slotted the opener into the back of the net. The Neapolitan player was booked, and he took off his shirt in a frenzied celebration. The final minutes were obviously tense and tense, but the victory was Rossoblu’s and there was no question about it. The stadium and the city could explode.
