MATCH REPORT | Parma-Cagliari 0-1

Cagliari narrowly defeated Parma at home to earn their first three points of the season. Alessandro Romano’s goal at the Tardini decided the match, scoring in the 79th minute with a spectacular left-footed strike from distance: it was the first goal by a Swiss player in Cagliari’s history.

The rossoblù started off trying to take control of the match and in the 10th minute Zé Pedro was booked for incorrect play. After a few minutes Maldini becomes dangerous, who tries a curling shot from the edge of the area, the ball goes just wide. Low cross from Obert, Mendy turns in the area and finishes towards goal: shot deflected by Ndiaye with the ball touching the post. At the end of the first half another opportunity for the rossoblù, with Deiola who dived with a header and failed to find the net. We go to half-time at 0-0. At the start of the second half Parma came back to show themselves with Lontani, who in the 59th minute received from Keita and shot towards the goal, the ball not far from the target. A minute later, Cagliari comes close to taking the lead: a treacherous shot from the edge of the area by Fazzini, Corvi deflects the ball onto the post. In the 79th minute the lead arrives: Adopo sets up for Romano, the midfielder pits Corvi from outside the area with a nice left-footed finish. In the final, Parma tries to react, but without finding the way to the net. After the 0-1 success, the rossoblù obtain their first three points of the season.
