
Cagliari Calcio are delighted to announce the signing of M’Bala Nzola from Fiorentina on a permanent transfer. The striker has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2027.
Born in Angola in 1996, Nzola came through the youth ranks of French side Troyes before moving to Portugal, where he joined Académica’s youth setup and made his first-team debut in 2015. After arriving in Italy, he first played for Virtus Francavilla, scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists in 39 appearances, before joining Carpi. In the summer of 2018, he moved to Trapani, where he played a key role in the team’s promotion to Serie B. He left the Sicilian club after two seasons, having made 50 appearances and scored 10 goals. In January 2020, he joined Spezia and was one of the key players in the Ligurian side’s promotion to Serie A. He made his top-flight debut on 18 October against Fiorentina, and a few weeks later scored his first Serie A brace in a 3-0 away win over Benevento. He made 25 appearances that season, scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists, playing a crucial role in the team’s survival. He reached double figures again in the 2022/23 season, scoring 13 goals and providing 2 assists in 31 appearances.

He was subsequently signed by Fiorentina, making his European debut on 24 August 2023 in the Conference League play-offs against Rapid Vienna. During his time in a Viola shirt, he made 47 appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists. The following season, he joined Lens on loan in Ligue 1, making 23 appearances and scoring 7 goals. He then returned to Italy, where last season he played for both Pisa (17 appearances and 3 goals) and Sassuolo (14 appearances and 1 goal).
With 15 appearances and 3 goals for his national team, Nzola is a strong and powerful striker, capable of holding up the ball, bringing his teammates into play and attacking space thanks to his pace and ability to drive forward.
