POST-MATCH | Mendy and Winks speak to the media

Key figures in the victory over Atalanta, forward Paul Mendy – named Player of the Match – and midfielder Harry Winks spoke to Sky Sport and DAZN immediately after the game. Here is what they had to say:

“I’m delighted. For the goal, I saw Adopo making the run and I took advantage of it. I’m a striker, I love scoring goals, not just against Atalanta but in every game. However, I’m also someone who runs a lot. I’m not just looking to score, I want to help my teammates. The goal is a great joy, I’m really happy. Am I more mature this year? I’m young, but the Head Coach is helping me a lot in training and during games. When I play, I try to put his instructions into practice. Trepy? I’m really happy that he’s back with us, he’s a friend of mine.”

WINKS’ WORDS
“From the very first moment, my teammates have been fantastic with me. We’re very united, we fight side by side, for the Head Coach and for the Club. With passion. And you can see the results on the pitch. We’re happy to have brought these three points home. I feel very good, we’re a strong, united team and that’s our strength. Mendy? Paul is a fantastic guy, he fights every day and gives us so much. He wants to improve day by day, he’s showing that, and he deserves these rewards. Romano? He’s an extraordinary player: he’s strong physically, he’s young, and we’re delighted to have him with us. The same goes for Paul. We have a lot of young players in the team. Working with the Head Coach is really enjoyable and we’re developing with him, especially the younger players. The Head Coach prepares us really well, we’re working very well.
