Mister Pisacane analyzed the victory against Roma at Unipol Domus to the media in this way. These are his words:
RED AND BLUE HEART AND PRIDE
Pride, sacrifice, heart, energy. Today we had all the ingredients our fans want from us. I’m happy, along with the team, to have satisfied them on such an afternoon, against a great team. We thank them for their patience; my first thought today is of them. We’ve only had a few days to prepare for this match, and Roma certainly needs no introduction: they have a coach in Gasperini who has shown extraordinary things over the last ten years. I knew what they would do to cause us problems, but also what we could do to create difficulties for them. The team did what they had to, as they’ve tried to do in recent games. But in Serie A, it only takes a moment; you get distracted and they punish you. We played even after the fatigue of the Coppa Italia match in Naples: this win is worth double.
A POSITIVE MENTALITY
“When you win, and you do it against a great team, the emotion is strong. But you always have to think positively, even when faced with difficulties like Felici’s latest injury, which was a blow. We always want to look at the glass half full: I was convinced it could be a turning point for the better, just as Belotti’s injury was for the worse. We were rewarded; I wanted to see a team that responded and sacrificed, and that’s what happened. We know how much these guys can give us: the team started the season in a certain way, plagued by injuries and negative moments. I’m happy to point out that today we had seven players born in 2000 or later on the pitch from the start. We’re building the Cagliari of the future, and if we do it with these performances, we’ll obviously be even more satisfied.”
ALL TOGETHER
The key? We remained upright in a stormy moment: me, the staff, the team. This is my first experience on the bench in Serie A, and it wasn’t easy. I’m proud of how we always looked for the key, never the problem. I listened to the guys: I stopped just a few years ago, and I know that the staff and I won’t get anywhere alone. We need to create a strong connection to understand what the team needs. I need everyone, the team, the support of the entire team. Only in this way, all together, can we achieve something important. Today we’re celebrating the victory, but from tomorrow onwards, we’ll focus on the next match: this must be our spirit if we want to achieve a difficult goal like staying up.
THE GROUP
“Gym? I prefer to focus on the group; Marco’s performance is there for all to see. Today we’re celebrating Cagliari, who played a fantastic match, also to keep the boy calm and relaxed. In football, it’s easy to over-excite or under-exert a player from one moment to the next. Mina’s absence? I repeat, today we’re celebrating the group, those who played, the collective. I’m thinking of Rodriguez, who today, as against Napoli, showed his worth and that he can truly be a promising player. Juan should have been waited for, brought in at the right time, and that’s what happened. I’m used to working with young players: Juan waited for his moment and then played two games against Napoli and Roma in the space of a few days. Gaetano? He needs to improve his fitness; he’s an important arrow in our quiver.”
THE FRUITS OF WORK
We’re happy to celebrate the presence of the Club’s new members, here at Unipol Domus today, with a victory. The match strategy? We knew they’d seek a man-on-man duel. Roma hadn’t caused us any particular problems, even before the sending-off, but that was because we’d done what we’d planned. The choices? I needed players with energy, who could hold their own. Deiola, for example, had a great game. You need time to work and grow. I never look for excuses, either in public or in the locker room. Today we got a great boost of energy, playing the game we all wanted. The lads were often within touching distance of the victory we’d been seeking for a long time, and today we achieved it, deservedly so after so much work. My dedication goes to our fans, to the patience with which they follow and support us, and to their unwavering passion.
