Rossoblu defender Alberto Dossena, one of the key players in Unipol Domus’s match against Lazio, spoke to the media after the match. He said:
WELCOME ALBERTO!
I’ve been looking forward to this match, to experience the thrill of playing in front of our fans again. As you well know, I’ve been out for a while due to injury, and it hasn’t been an easy period: it took me many months to recover. I returned against Roma, but I still hadn’t played 90 minutes. I’m happy to be back playing at this level: I’m feeling good, and today I’m particularly satisfied with my performance and the team’s. I hope to continue like this. If anything, I’m disappointed with the result; we could have won. But we’ll take home this good point.
ONE IMPORTANT POINT
We were playing against a strong Lazio side, but we could have broken the deadlock on at least three occasions in the first half: most notably Zè Pédro’s post-game shot. We were always in the game, we kept control of the game, and took very few risks. We even scored in the second half, when Palestra was just offside. It’s a shame, because one incident would have been enough to secure the three points. We should have made better use of some counterattacks. From the pitch until Yerry’s red card, I never had the feeling we could concede. Left with ten men, we had to drop back, and in those cases you risk something more. Also because, at that point, they were pushing. In that moment, however, we did well to stay united and defend with order. I think the result is ultimately fair. It’s an important point, which comes after two lackluster performances. We must be happy with today’s performance and continue on this path.
THANKS A LOT, COACH!
“Here I’ve found a very positive, close-knit, and united group, following the Coach’s instructions. The standings show, despite the two previous defeats, that there have been many positive results, which have led the team to 29 points today. It’s a good haul, the standings are good, and I’m positive. We certainly know we’ll need more wins to achieve our goal. I’m very confident, given the work we’re doing: ours is a young and proactive group. I want to thank the Coach, he wanted to rely on me. Now it’s up to me to prove my worth on the pitch.”
THE ROAD TO THE GOAL
I find many similarities between Como and Cagliari. They’re both young teams. In this case, I, along with my more experienced teammates, need to lead the youngsters and help them. But they’re all very capable players; they’re proving their worth. Personally, I want to give my all and help the team achieve its goal. Compared to my first experience here, I don’t think much has changed; I’ve found many similarities. Is the team’s center of gravity lower compared to Ranieri’s Cagliari? I don’t think so. I see many players with great energy and quality. It’s not an excuse, but it’s now a fact that we’re missing a lot of players. We’re who we are; we hope to get some of them back as soon as possible. In the meantime, we need to continue on this path and approach the next match with maximum commitment and competitive determination to earn points in a direct clash. We’ll give 110%.”
