Here the words of Fabio Pisacane, Cagliari’s coach, after the match against Juventus, lost 2-1 in Turin These are his words:
ABOUT THE MATCH
“When you’re facing Juventus, everything good you do can seem to have a different weight: it’s disappointing to have drawn level so early; we made a mistake in a run where we should have closed the gap earlier. We did so many good things, and I like to think about them and how to continue to build on them. It’s unthinkable to come here and not suffer. We knew we had to do it all together, we did it, and we could have taken away some points, but it’s a shame.”
BELIEVE IN THE DAILY WORK
“You know Yildiz, and you can never get distracted. The early equalizer hurt us, and the team panicked a bit. We took the 2-1 lead before halftime. But then we bounced back and created the conditions to score again. The team is young, we’re a bit lacking in some areas, but that’s normal. We have to believe and work together. Early substitutions for Kilicsoy and Gaetano? In my opinion, given the struggles in transition towards the end, doing so earlier wouldn’t have helped or done justice to the game plan and what the lads were doing. Juventus under Spalletti has always been strong in transition so that’s an important aspect, which we managed today. The youth of the team isn’t an excuse. We’re working hard, and then we’ll make judgments at the end of the process.”
POSITIVITY AND CONFIDENCE
It’s nice to receive certain compliments from the commentators, but we hope to get a few more points soon and fewer compliments. We often created opportunities to score, and it’s a shame we weren’t able to manage them better, especially for the lads. We need more cunning: we had a very young team on the pitch again today, and we need to work. There were some good things and some not so good. It’s a shame we didn’t have enough cunning in both phases, on the equalizer and on Juventus’ second goal, and on the chances we created to score. The psychological consequences of these negative results? I base my assessment on performances; if we’d all had a negative feeling after tonight’s match, I’d be worried. Instead, today we once again showed many good things. Let’s focus on these with confidence, think positively, and knowing that we’ve once again demonstrated our values and ideas, let’s look to the next one with confidence.
THE PLAYERS
“Palestra? He’s a player we’re happy to have, thanks also to the director who identified him. He’s coming off a year in the Under 23s, we’re working on him, but today I can say he wasn’t even 100%, it takes calm and patience, and I hope he never loses this humility because he’s a great prospect for our football. Liteta in the mix and some difficulties in midfield so far? Everyone can give more, not just in midfield. We want positivity, the young players and the new generations need this, applause rather than reprimands: Liteta has perspective, he can be useful to the cause, especially when you need more energy, and I think he’s done well for his second start in Serie A. Young players need to be allowed to play with confidence, otherwise the conversations remain empty. Folorunsho and Adopo have done their part, Juventus undoubtedly puts you in difficulty, but I’m quite satisfied with my players, knowing that we all have to work together. Compliments are nice but they’re useless, points are what count. Let’s work towards that, think about reversing the trend and We’re definitely alive. One race at a time, even with a challenging schedule.”
