Coach Ranieri spoke to the media after the victory against Empoli:
ON THE MATCH
“It was a very difficult match, Empoli is a good team, they have quality running and stamina. We were good at creating a web that didn’t allow them to play their game: they knew that their counter-attacks could have put us in trouble and they showed that. I would have liked something more in the first half, it wasn’t possible for us probably more due to Empoli’s merits. In the second half it was better: we were more punctilious and determined. In general we didn’t play very well, other times away from home we had played better, but we hadn’t collected anything. This time, instead, we bring home the three points that give us hope”.
WILLINGNESS TO FIGHT
“As I told the guys, we are still in B, third to last. Now comes a very important series of games for us: a month that is not decisive, but which can tell us a lot about our future. We have to pull ourselves out of this situation: the points are there, we have to go and get them, it depends on us, on our desire to fight and suffer together.
GOOD JOB
“Jankto always does a lot of kilometres, he is very tactically aware. Today the goal finally arrived, I’m very happy for him. Everyone did well, those who started from the beginning and those who took over. Lapadula also came very close to scoring, Caprile made a great save. Luvumbo’s exit? I hope he’ll be available next Saturday: he only felt a muscle strain and came off immediately. Our injuries this season have mostly been traumatic and not muscular in nature.”
ROSSOBLÙ PEOPLE
“I have no more words to thank our fans, they are wonderful. Before entering the pitch I told the team to play for them, they make sacrifices to follow us, they want to be proud of us. Even today they were always there for us, we could feel them on the pitch. They never let us lack their support even knowing that we are third to last. They are there and we will always give everything.”
