CAGLIARI SHOWED HIS CHARACTER
“Yes, I scored, but it’s hard to be happy when the result doesn’t come. Yildiz’s goal took our legs off us a bit, and we doubled our lead before halftime. We need to be smarter, more cunning, and put in a little more effort: we can’t concede a goal just seconds after taking the lead. That said, we played a good game, even aggressively at times, with quality. A test of character; we were also quite calm with the ball. But it wasn’t enough; their two plays made the difference.”

ALWAYS THE SAME SPIRIT
“Aren’t these the games we need to win? I disagree. We go out there against every opponent to try and bring home some points. We knew Juventus’s strength, but we also know we’re a good team, and we try to compete with everyone, always. We’re disappointed with the result, especially because we know our potential.”

FOR THE GOOD OF THE TEAM
“In the first few games, I hadn’t found the net; I’d spoken to the coach about it. I told him that goals aren’t an obsession for me; I’m not one of those players who needs to score to feel good. The important thing is that my performance can help the team: if my goal does, that’s a big deal. Today I scored, thanks in part to a magical assist from Palestra, but it didn’t help us get points. Of course, I’m happy to score, but at that point, I would have preferred it to end 0-0. Do I play closer to the penalty area than in the first few games? I don’t think much has changed: the coach prepares the game based on the opponent, we study them and try to cause them problems. Whether the goal comes from inside the box or outside it depends on our skill or the opponent’s mistake. It’s true that I scored similar goals between Sassuolo and today: attacking the box better is something I need to improve, these goals give me confidence in the work I’m doing.”

“We’ve come face-to-face with Perin several times: for example, with Idrissi, then with Felici. Scoring a goal and creating the conditions for another against Juventus in Turin is no small feat. I put myself at the team’s disposal; I have the technical skills that allow me to set up my teammates. My understanding with Borrelli? We have a good relationship, and on the pitch we complement each other: he’s someone who fights for every ball, he has a bit of the characteristics of my brother Pio. I hope to give him a lot of goals.”
