A 2-1 victory at home against Fiorentina for Fabio Pisacane’s Cagliari U19, who overturned the match against the Viola with Carboni and Bolzan.
Rossoblù were immediately dangerous with Vinciguerra in the 5th minute, Leonardelli saved. In the 9th minute Presta tried but Auseklis was alert. Fiorentina went ahead in the 24th minute with Baroncelli, good at orchestrating and closing the action without leaving a chance for the goalkeeper. Cagliari reorganised but failed to punch before the break, something they would do better when they returned to the pitch.
Immediately Vinciguerra in the 48th minute, a shot that Leonardelli neutralised again. And in the 50th minute came the penalty: Achour on the ground, from the penalty spot Carboni did not forgive. Leonardelli was decisive in the 55th minute on Marcolini’s break. The Tuscans rang out with Gudelevicius but Auseklis repelled, in the 72nd minute, followed shortly after by Vinciguerra who did not find the right conclusion. In the 79th minute Grandu had a shot saved on the line. Cagliari won it in the 82nd minute through Bolzan: the second goal of the season for the former Roma player, consecutive after the one against Lecce, framed for the final 2-1. Gudelevicius in the closing minutes left Fiorentina with ten men.
COACH PISACANE’S WORDS
‘I am proud of my boys, we played a great game against a strong opponent, who won the Italian Cup and who respected us. We were good in interpreting the moments of the match. After a first half in which we did not realise what we created, in the second half – net of a few errors of inaccuracy in the final phase – we were good at recovering and bringing home the victory. The team never disbanded and tried to put into practice what we tried, as well as consolidating more and more the principles and ideas on which we have been working every day since the beginning of the season. This match also represents a further step of growth for a group that is maturing and today showed that it is never content’.
