Two days before Cagliari v Napoli, coach Claudio Ranieri presents the match and takes an overview of the rossoblù’s momentum after the draw in Udine.
THE REACTION
“Words are nothing if you don’t then demonstrate on the pitch, first of all there are the players who must fight and have the spirit to fight every day, every minute for salvation. In Udine the team gave an important response, the reaction was there and the second half shows the path we must all follow together. I had said that I would have resigned if it was needed to give a shock, the group has shown me that they want and want to fight united, it is not often that a coach has this kind of reaction from a team, we move forward working day after day”.
INDIVIDUALS
“We are slowly recovering the injured players, Shomurodov is gradually improving, as are Oristanio and Sulemana, we hope to have them available soon. All the lads are very useful: it’s normal that someone has to rest, but both from the start and during the match we need every players of the squad because only with the collective and rowing together towards the goal can we reach it. Nandez and Mina? Nahitan worked at 100% during the week, something he was unable to do before Udine; Yerry has charisma and experience, he was taken for his many technical and character qualities, capable of acting as a guide in the backline, all qualities that we already had in the squad but that he has certainly increased”.
THE OPPONENT
“We face the Italian champions, very strong players: Napoli are not in crisis, we saw the performance against Barcelona. Maybe this year things are going less well for them than last season, but they have the quality to make an impact in every moment of the match. We will have to be good at getting the best out of ourselves, leaving the field without regrets and still making our fans proud”.
THE FIRST LEG
“We did well, we played without fears losing because of some carelessness that must be avoided, like the one on the 2-1 goal. Napoli have changed coach, they can certainly shake things up, Calzona knows Napoli and the Azzurri well, we have to look at ourselves and it won’t change the way we face them”.
