Cagliari Calcio strengthens its bond with Xiapu County, in the Chinese province of Fujian, by formalizing a three-year agreement aimed at training local coaches and developing football in the area. The program will focus on transmitting skills and fieldwork methodologies.
A collaboration that has grown over the years, initiated in 2019, now enriched with new initiatives thanks to the ongoing presence of Cagliari’s coaching staff in China.
The agreement was formalized on February 21 during an official ceremony in Xiapu, which saw the participation of the Cagliari Calcio delegation (composed of General Manager Stefano Melis and Partnership Manager Matteo Sechi) and the Municipality of Cagliari (with Mayor Massimo Zedda and official Alessandro Cossa). During the ceremony, the mayor of Cagliari and his counterpart from Xiapu signed a letter of intent for a friendship pact between the two municipalities, thereby strengthening the institutional relationships already initiated on November 10 in the Sardinian capital through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Tourism Department of the Sardinia Region and Xiapu County.
During the mission, the highest local authorities gave an exceptional welcome to the Cagliari delegation, showcasing the cultural, gastronomic, and tourism excellences that make the Fujian region particularly suited for collaborations with Sardinia and its capital.
The partnership between Cagliari Calcio and Xiapu County is set to be a facilitator of connection between Sardinia and China, going beyond sports and opening new perspectives for exchange, cooperation, and international development between the two entities. A solid bond that looks forward with enthusiasm to future opportunities.
