Cagliari Calcio announces the transfer of the right to the sporting performances of the footballer Gabriele Zappa to Hellas Verona, on loan until the end of the 2026/2027 season with the obligation to redeem upon the occurrence of certain sporting conditions.

Six years of life, football, emotions and sense of belonging. Gabriele Zappa arrived in Cagliari in the summer of 2020 as a promising young man and today greets Sardinia as a mature man and footballer, strongly linked to the rossoblù and this land. A constant growth, with falls and rises, within which he was able to gain space, trust and respect.

Born in 1999, raised in the youth sector of Inter, Zappa made his debut in the rossoblù and in Serie A on 20 September 2020, at Sassuolo. It will be the first of 215 total appearances, with 6 goals and 13 assists. The night in Bari was unforgettable: 11 June 2023, playoff final, minute 94. A perfect cross, brushed towards the area, and the winning strike from Leonardo Pavoletti which won Serie A. An assist which has become iconic in the recent history of the Club and which also speaks well of Zappa’s character: being there in the moment that counts, finding the play, giving everything until the last second. The return to Serie A coincides with further confirmation of his growth, culminating with his first goal in the top flight for the victory over Genoa and then with the unforgettable brace against Milan.

In addition to the numbers, what remains is the profound relationship of those who have found a second home on the island and an important part of their lives in Cagliari. Six years lived intensely that cannot be erased with a change of shirt.
