On Sunday 19 May, for the first time in the setting of the Unipol Domus, the 2024 edition of the ‘Energit Tournament‘, the tournament dedicated to the red-blue Academy, was staged.
The desire to live together a day dedicated to the most authentic values of sport, the commitment of more than 600 athletes in front of some 2500 people including coaches, managers and families flocked from all over Sardinia. These were the ingredients of the closing event of the Cagliari Football Academy’s competitive season. of which Energit is the main sponsor.
The tournament, articulated with the formula of Italian rounds and subsequent knock-out challenges from the quarter-finals, saw the participation of 34 clubs in the Pulcini category (ages 10 and 11). Oliena and Antiochense-Calasetta won ex aequo, Ghilarza came third, Isili fourth.
A whole day, a real football marathon, which animated the red and blue stadium, allowing many children to experience the thrill of walking on the stage that usually hosts Serie A and its champions.
“We are very happy and honoured to have experienced such a beautiful, participative and full of enthusiasm”, explains Cagliari Football Academy head Mattia Belfiori. “Sunday’s day was the conclusion of the Club’s annual journey in this project that began in 2014 and the relationship built over the years with the many affiliates. The Academy means research and development of talent, but also and above all focus on social issues and attention to the resources of the area , because our first goal must be to build the men of the future before the players. We will continue with our commitment, supported by the Club and partners, aiming to do better and better through constant discussions with technicians and sharing of tools and methodologies in the many moments together both in Cagliari and in the individual realities of Sardinia and beyond’.
