The Rossoblù U20 coach, Francesco Pisano, commented to the media on the elimination from the Coppa Italia Primavera following the defeat against Atalanta.
DISAPPOINTMENT AND PRIDE
“There’s disappointment: we wanted to advance to the next round, to defend our title as reigning champions of the competition, and perhaps to relive the emotions the boys felt last season, winning the Cup. We’re disappointed, but the team’s good reaction remains, especially in the second half: we’ll have to build on this second half.”
WORKING TO IMPROVE
“Atalanta is a team with experience and physicality; they were able to make the most of their opportunities. We, for our part, had several chances to equalize; we could have done better. The missed penalty? It can happen: yesterday in training we practiced penalties and scored them all. Their goalkeeper deserves credit, too. We always tried to play the ball; it’s part of our principles, showing courage and character. There were some mistakes, for example in the final stages of the game, probably also due to the weather conditions. We need to improve, and we’ll do it.”
FOCUS ON THE LEAGUE
“We’ll play against Parma on Sunday: it will be a tough match. They’re a technically savvy team that plays very well. The goal is to build on the positive results we’ve achieved in recent league matches, showing the desire to do well against anyone. The players who are called up to the first team? They value all the work done by the youth academy; it’s a job that started a long time ago, with the coaches who trained those players before me.”
