“We have straightened out our season, but we are still in the middle of the tussle, no missteps are allowed, we must continue like this. There are two very important matches coming up, starting with the one in Genoa, which would allow us to put one more building block for salvation”: red and blue side Tommaso Augello spoke on “Dazn Talks” for an analysis on the team’s momentum, committed on Monday night against Genoa and then at home against Lecce, and to draw a first balance of his experience in Sardinia.
RED BLUE LOVE.
“In Cagliari I found a unique environment: a united group of good guys, an incredible technical staff, the sports center is among the best in Italy. The city is beautiful, there is a wonderful climate, the rain today and the lower temperatures than usual are an exception. There is practically no such thing as winter, and for me, who loves the heat and the sea, it is perfect. I am really happy: now the goal is to finish this year in the best way possible to make the season memorable. I think about the present, if I look to the future I would like to stay here for a long time and become an important player for this team.”
A PEOPLE WHO DRAG YOU
“Here you have an entire region cheering for you, it’s a peculiarity: people are very attached to this jersey, they rejoice and suffer for Cagliari. At home our stadium is always sold-out, the fans give us an incredible charge, it is something that intimidates the opponents, so much so that in the final minutes we have been capable of incredible comebacks: the one against Frosinone from 0-3 to 4-3 I think was one of the most beautiful and resounding in the entire history of Serie A. Our people never leave us alone even when we are away, despite the difficulties related to travel: in Monza they were more than 2,500 to support us.”
THE COACH AS ADDED VALUE
“Coach Ranieri is always on the ball, in the match he is always ready to change something decisive at the tactical level, to bring in someone who will then be decisive: it cannot be a coincidence, he is a phenomenon in reading the game. I still remember the excitement when I met him in my first year with Sampdoria, to be able to be coached by a coach like him for me was something exceptional. And it still is today. For us he is an added value, we have to thank him: he is a coach who has nothing to envy to those who sit on the benches of top clubs. Since his arrival he has given three extra gears and has conveyed to the group his great desire to never give up.”
THE FIRST GOAL IN ROSSOBLÙ
“The goal against Atalanta? It was my first goal in this jersey, the equalizing goal, then we found the victory. At the end of the season I hope we can say that it contributed to our goal. The jubilation? It stems from my passion for darts, which I also passed on to some of the teammates this year, on all of them Dossena, Di Pardo, Zappa. We also put a target here at the Sports Center.”
FORWARD WITH CONFIDENCE
“We had a bad start, we had a difficult beginning of the championship, the calendar did not help us. The turning point was in Udine: there was like a shock, inside and outside the locker room, from there we changed gear. Apart from the narrow defeat in Monza, from that moment only victories and draws came, important points for our goal. The Coach has given us a precise identity, we are following him and we are doing well, as shown also by the last results against three big ones like Atalanta, Inter and Juventus, performances that strengthen self-esteem and give morale. There is enthusiasm, both on and off the court. Even here at the CRAI Sport Center there is a good atmosphere during training. However, we have to keep our concentration high, stay calm, continue like this. What we have done so far doesn’t count, the points scored so far are not enough for salvation. The most difficult is yet to come, starting with Monday night’s match in Genoa. But we look ahead with confidence.”
