Tradition, Music, and Sport: Cagliari Celebrates Sardinian Folk Songs

Rossoblù World - 27/12/2024

Cagliari Calcio, in collaboration with the Tourism and Commerce Department of the Region of Sardinia, is pleased to present an event that combines the allure of football with the timeless beauty of Sardinian musical tradition. On Saturday, December 28th, before the Serie A match between Cagliari and Inter kicks off, the atmosphere at Unipol Domus will be made unique by a performance of traditional Sardinian folk songs.

The pre-match entertainment will be provided by the “Coro Bobore Nuvoli” Folk and Cultural Association from Nuoro, who will perform wearing traditional Sardinian costumes. The choir will interpret deeply emotional pieces, such as “A Diosa” (No potho reposare) and “Su Ninnieddu”, famous melodies that speak of universal love and carry a message of peace and serenity, in harmony with the holiday season.

The performance, dedicated to all rossoblù fans and football enthusiasts, will be an opportunity to experience a moment of connection between the past and the present, blending the sporting fervor with the magic of choral singing. At the end of the performance, as a symbolic gesture of friendship and hospitality, a representative of the choir, along with a Cagliari player, will present the opposing team with a traditional Sardinian headdress, specially created for the occasion.

This initiative, strongly supported by Cagliari Calcio with the backing of the Region of Sardinia, represents a new step in the Club’s project aimed at enhancing and promoting the island’s cultural heritage. Through the visibility of Serie A, Cagliari serves as an ambassador of Sardinian traditions worldwide, using sport as a bridge to unite peoples and celebrate the richness of diversity.

In this way, Cagliari Calcio reaffirms its role as an ambassador of Sardinian culture and identity. Every match becomes not only a sporting event but also an opportunity to showcase to the world the invaluable beauty of the island’s traditions, promoting universal values such as respect, hospitality, and love for one’s roots.
