XPLAY, partnership with Senegal Sport Detection

Rossoblù World - 9 June 2024

The XPLAY project continues to grow, serving clubs, coaches and young enthusiasts from all over the world who want to grow and improve through an innovative teaching model that inspires, motivates and educates by promoting physical well-being and social aggregation

The Cagliari XPlay International Academy will land in Dakar in the coming months, with the organisation of the Cagliari XPlay Training Experience and Test Matches both in the Senegalese capital and in Cagliari and Sardinia. The first Training Experience in Cagliari was held from 3 to 7 June at the CRAI Sport Center in Assemini, with players Amadou Sande, Mouhamed Deme, Serigne Cheikh MB Diop who trained with the red and blue Under-17 team, also carrying out personalised and targeted sessions for their technical and athletic characteristics, in agreement with the structure and technicians of the Cagliari Calcio Youth Sector led by Head Coach Bernardo Mereu and Sports Director Pierluigi Carta.

The partnership with Senegal Sport Detection, led by President Diop Maodo Malick together with Demba Thiary Ndiaye, fundamental for the start-up and implementation of the project in the African country, marks the continuation of a path, that of XPLAY in Senegal, which began in January with the first contacts and guidelines drawn up in synergy, delving into the characteristics of the territory, local youth football, and the technical and human resources from which to draw and on which to work.

“Seeing the emotion in the eyes of Amadou, Mouhamed and Serigne as they worked with their Cagliari Calcio peers was an incredibly moving experience,” explains XPLAY project manager Marco Marchi. “For them it was a dream come true, and for us a very proud moment. This is just the beginning of our programme, we are excited about the idea that many more boys will have the chance to wear our colours, receive technical and tactical training as true professionals and experience equally intense emotions”.
