President Tommaso Giulini addressed the microphones of Dazn following the 2-2 draw against Genoa.
CONGRATS TO ALL
“it was a tough game, playing in Genoa is always difficult. The stadium was behind the team despite their tough situation. I felt a stadium that was pushing to support Genoa—coming here, never giving up, even reacting when we were behind, means a lot and is a great source of pride. This attitude is key to our survival. I’m pleased with the players’ performance: we’re starting to see a team identity, a side that creates a lot, even away from home. That’s what we want to see, what the fans want to see. I congratulate the Coach who today reached 200 Serie A appearances, as well as his entire staff and fitness team: the team is working hard, everyone is involved. Let’s keep moving forward together.”
THE RIGHT MENTALITY
“Sherri? Everyone entered the field with great personality and the right attitude. It’s unfortunate about the two chances Gaetano missed; he really deserved to score—he gives everything in training and needs to get that first goal. We conceded two goals due to defensive errors, but that can happen in such a challenging game, with high pressure and a field heavy from rain that affects how the ball bounces compared to a dry pitch. I’m really pleased with everyone today: it was a very tricky game with many pitfalls. Up to now, we had always performed well against top teams, including against Napoli where, despite the 0-4 scoreline, we played for 60 minutes at a high level. But we hadn’t always done so well against teams we compete with for our objective. So I’m happy to have seen the right attitude today.”
FOCUS ON
“The penalty by Piccoli? I saw the conversation between him and Mina; Yerry was, in my opinion, very smart. Among them, he was the one who wasn’t as clean as usual, coming off a long intercontinental trip which is never easy. He understood it was better to let the ball go to a teammate. And Piccoli was calm, just like Marin—and that’s what I like. It’s important to have players who, in a stadium like this, can maintain their composure and clarity to take a penalty kick: looking at the goalkeeper and placing the ball in the right spot.”
